KARE's mission is to end child abuse
through advocacy
, education and support.

Advocacy:
Victim Services - We collaborate with local Haywood County agencies to investigate and prosecute child physical and sexual abuse cases.  We work with the child and the non-offending caregiver through the entire process through investigation through treatment and wellness.

Education:
We teach a variety of programs including:
Child Personal Safety Program, Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse
Darkness to Light - Sexual Abuse Prevention

Support:
We provide support to parents through the evidence-based programs Parents As Teachers, Triple P (Positive Parenting Program), and Children In the Middle.  These programs are designed to support and teach parents strategies and techniques to raise healthy and happy children.

Triple P®

Triple P is a parenting program, but it doesn’t tell you how to be a parent. It’s more like a toolbox of ideas. You choose the strategies you need. You choose the way you want to use them. It’s all about making Triple P work for you.

School Safety Program
Each year, our dedicated volunteers go to every elementary classroom in Haywood County, from kindergarten through fifth grade, to teach children about personal safety. Some of our volunteers have been with us for over a decade, and some have even been with us since KARE's beginning in 1991. It is paramount that children know what to do if they feel threatened or have been victimized. KARE offers age-appropriate instruction via DVD presentations and take home materials on how to stay alert and stay safe.
